Why we built ShuffleDesk
In an office, colleagues get to know each other by accident: by the kettle, in the lift, on the way to lunch. On a video call there's no corridor, so those small conversations stop happening, and people end up knowing only their own team.
ShuffleDesk brings them back. Once a week, everyone joins at the same time and we pair colleagues who don't usually talk for short one-to-one video chats. Nothing to organise, no agenda, and a few minutes later they're back at work, knowing a few more people by name.
What we care about
- Privacy by default. Chats are never recorded. Admins see totals, never who met whom or what was said. Check-ins only show as team averages.
- Nothing to organise. One weekly slot, a calendar invite and a reminder. No scheduling emails between busy people.
- Respect for people's time. Short chats, nothing to install, and anyone can leave whenever they like.
